How do I get and install GoMobiPrint?
To install GoMobiPrint goto the Get GoMobiPrint section and follow the link to the app store.
Search for the GoMobiPrint application on the app store and follow installation instructions.
What kind of printer do I need?
Any Bluetooth equipped printer that supports the Basic Printing Profile (BPP) should support a print connection from GoMobiPrint.
Does my printer come with Bluetooth support in the box?
Many printers are advertised as having Bluetooth support but this may depend on the purchase of a Bluetooth adaptor which plugs into a socket on the printer. Some printers have Bluetooth support built in already. You need to check your printer’s specification to see exactly how Bluetooth support is provided.
Why is GoMobiPrint not detecting my printer?
GoMobiPrint is designed to detect any Bluetooth device which has been placed in “Discoverable” mode. Check your printer’s Bluetooth security settings to make sure it is set.
What does Bluetooth “Discoverable” mean?
The term “Discoverable” for Bluetooth means that the device security has been set so that other Bluetooth devices can find it. The menu option on your printer may say “Make printer visible to all”.
Why is GoMobiPrint asking for a pass code?
When your printer is set to a high security mode it requires a pass code before it will accept connections from other Bluetooth devices.
Why did GoMobiPrint not ask for a pass code when I printed the next photo?
Once a “Pass Code” connection or “Pairing” has been created between two Bluetooth devices it is remembered so the Pass Code does not need to be entered again.
Why is GoMobiPrint picking paper from the wrong tray?
GoMobiPrint does not select which paper tray to print from. The choice of paper tray is set in the printer. Check the tray selection options for Bluetooth set in your printer.
Some printers have separate selections for each connection type supported – eg USB, Bluetooth, PictBridge.
Some printers also have separate selections for each language supported as well. So you may set up the Bluetooth tray for one language, change to another language and have to set it up again.
What happens if the connection breaks before data transfer is completed?
If a Bluetooth connection is lost, the print process is aborted. It is not usually necessary to perform any reset actions on the printer or your phone before trying again.
What is the maximum printing range for Bluetooth?
The maximum range at which printing is possible depends on both the phone and printer.
How can I be sure I am connected to the right printer?
Most printers are factory set with the model name and number of the printer. Many allow you to change this name to something more personal. If you want to be sure that you are connecting to the right printer, use this facility to set a name that is easier for you to recognise.
What happens if my printer runs out of paper / ink?
GoMobiPrint does not retrieve status information from the printer. Most printers have error recovery procedures which allow you to add paper or ink without having to resend the print information. If this does not work you will have to send the print again.
Can I queue prints to the printer?
GoMobiPrint does not have the ability to queue prints. You must wait for the current print to complete before sending another one.
Why is part of my photo print missing?
In Bluetooth printing mode, GoMobiPrint transmits the whole image to the printer and requests that the whole print area is used. The printer then performs its “best effort” to deliver this request. How the print turns out will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and model to model.
Is there a limit on the size of photo I can print?
The maximum size of photo which can be printed depends on the number of bytes required to store the photo, i.e. its file size, and the number of pixels in the image. The level at which these limits are set will depend on the printer model.
What happens if the printer cannot print my photo?
The actual behaviour of the printer will vary from model to model. The most likely behaviour is that the printer will eject a blank sheet of paper.
Why are some of my messages missing from the messages list?
Phones can receive and store many types of messages. At present GoMobiPrint does not support all of them. To avoid confusion, GoMobiPrint only lists messages which it is certain it can print.
Why are some of my photos missing from the photo strip?
Photo files must be in JPEG format to be used with GoMobiPrint .
I have just changed my theme and the help text is not readable
If you change the theme from a light theme to a dark one or a dark theme to a light one the help text may become unreadable. To resolve this exit Help and open it again.
What happens if I send my picture to another phone rather than a printer by accident?
When searching for a printer, phones and printers are mixed together. If the picture is sent to a phone, the phone will receive the picture as an Bluetooth MMS message.
How do I refresh the Contacts view?
The Contacts view cannot be refreshed in the current version of the application. You can refresh the contacts view by closing and opening the GoMobiPrint application.
How do I get back the disclaimer screen after switching away to another application?
If the disclaimer screen disappears after switching away to another application and back to GoMobiPrint, you can get back to the disclaimer screen by closing and re-opening GoMobiPrint.
What is the behaviour of the selection key from the image view?
When the user presses the selection key while a printable image is displayed, the printing process will be started to print the selected image.
What is the behaviour of the selection key from the message or contacts views?
When the user presses the selection key the printing process will be started to print the message or contact.
Inconsistent use of the Right Softkey
The Right Softkey displays as Exit from the main screen (View contacts, messages or photos) as well as the Help options Help and Help search by Keyword screens. The Right Softkey displays as Cancel from the Options screen and the Select Printer screen. The Right Softkey displays as close from the Help Menu and as Back from the Help options Topic list.
Why are MMS messages not printed?
This version of GoMobiPrint does not print MMS messages.
Why are Mail for Exchange (MfE) messages not printed?
This version of GoMobiPrint does not print Mail for Exchange (MfE) messages.
Why can't I exit the application with the task manager when searching for a printer?
This is by design, please cancel the search and then exit the application with the task manager.
I have a Nokia 3250 or similar phone and the image view is different. Why is this?
On certain phones with small screens there is insufficient space to display all the information. Therefore the images are displayed vertically rather than side by side.
Why does disclaimer disappear and keys not respond after close and reopen of clamshell?
On phones such as the Nokia N71, the disclaimer screen can disappear after closing and reopening the clamshell. Also the left soft key for options and the arrow keys may not seem to be responding. If this occurs press the select button and the option keys will then start working again.
Disclaimer screen disappears after changing orientation and soft key options are blank?
On the Nokia E70, Nokia N93 or Nokia N95 the disclaimer screen can disappear after changing the orientation of the display. Also the soft key options can go blank. To I resolve this, press any key or change the orientation once more.
Why are screen captures not removed from images when the application is uninstalled?
Screen captures are stored as images on the phone and are not deleted when the application closes or is uninstalled. This behaviour is intentional and by design. You can always delete the images using the photo gallery or file manager applications if required.
