Select Printer
Description
This option starts the scanning process which finds devices to which a connection can be made.
Navigation
Select Options>Select Printer
Operation
For Bluetooth this includes all Discoverable devices. The default name for a printer is usually its model name. Selecting a device makes it the currently active GoMobiPrint printer which will be used the next time the Print Process is started. There is no check to ensure that the selected device can accept print data from GoMobiPrint. This takes place at print time.
Requirements for printing via Bluetooth:
· The printer must be in Discoverable mode.
· If Security has been enabled on the printer, you will need the four digit pass code. You will be asked for the pass code during the printer connection process.
Print Process
Navigation
Press the joystick when a printable item is displayed
Select Options>Print item
Operation
The printing process is divided into four phases:-
· Printer Discovery - This phase takes place when you start GoMobiPrint for the first time after installation or when the last attempt to print failed. GoMobiPrint will search for available devices and wait for you to make your choice. Once you have made your choice, GoMobiPrint moves on to the next phase - Printer Connection.
· Printer Connection - During this phase, GoMobiPrint negotiates with the selected device to see if it can print the current data. A prolonged negotiation will display the Wait Dialog. When the negotiation has succeeded GoMobiPrint moves to the Data Tranmission phase.
· Data Transmission - GoMobiPrint displays a progress bar while data is being sent to the printer. The print can be cancelled using the Progress Bar Cancel option.
· Printing - For Bluetooth connections, the final phase of printing starts once all the data has been sent to the printer. GoMobiPrint can be used to print on other printers whilst the first printer completes. Any attempt to print on a printer which has a print in progress will fail.
Capture Screen
Navigation
This feature is activated from the Photos pane.
Select Options>Capture Screen
Operation
Starting the Capture Screen process hides GoMobiPrint from view. Now you can navigate to the screen you wish to capture. When you have reached the screen you wish to capture, you activate the “Shortcut” – the default is the Backspace key - which starts the capture process. When the capture has been completed, GoMobiPrint reappears and shows you a preview of the image captured. Selecting “Yes” will start the Print Process. Selecting “No” returns to the Photos pane. All captured screens are stored in the images folder of your phone.
The Capture Screen process has a timeout setting to prevent your phone being stuck in the Capture Screen mode. If a capture has not been made by the end of the timeout period, GoMobiPrint reappears to tell you that the timeout has expired and offers you the options of returning to GoMobiPrint or remaining where you are. The capture process is not restarted and no image is saved.
Capture Screen has a set of options which allow you to customise it into a form that is most comfortable for you to use. The settings which can be changed are:-
· Timeout period – This is the length of the timeout period in seconds. It can be set to any value between 10 and 120 (two minutes). The default value is 20.
· Shortcut – This is the event which causes a copy of the current screen to be saved. The events available are:
§ Backspace key – This is the key labelled “C” or marked with a left facing arrow.
§ Timeout – When the timeout expires, the current screen is saved. This facility is provided for those occasions where a key press is not convenient.
